Thank you to Willow Class for this week’s newsletter…
This term Willow Class have been learning about “wheels and axles” and also about different types of vehicles in DT. The objective was to design their own vehicle for a particular person or for their favourite character. They used wooden dowels for the axles and cardboard wheels. The children brought in the boxes to be the “chassis” part of their vehicle.
We know different parts of vehicles are chassis, wheels and axles. The chassis of the car is very important as it keeps you safe from the rain to get wet. It is also important because otherwise vehicles will not have any part to attach the wheels and axles. Whereas, wheels and axles help the vehicles to move. Susanna, Max and Aphaia.
The name of my car is Bob and I made it for myself and my family. I attached lolly sticks to make the wings so it can fly. It has also got a face so it can talk. Beatrice
My car’s name is Robin as it can fly and follows my instructions. I made it for my family. It has got a pattern that I made by twisting the ribbons of different colours together. It works as a booster and makes it fly faster. Casper
My space rocket has got a number at the back, it helps me to locate my character rocket easily. I made it for my wonder doll. Summer
I made a Disco car for my Dog man character. There is a disco inside the car and a mini television at the top of it so, you can watch Dog Man movie and relax. Freddie S.
Mrs. Paterson asked us a question: What holds the wheels in place on the car and stops the wheels falling off?
We researched and found the answer to her question, that stud holes hold the wheels in place and stop the wheels falling off. Beatrix and Austin.
